Billy and Stewart assessed the property and the possibilities. Their initial suggestion of a two-story addition made us nervous as we had observed many a cute cottage being swamped by vulgar, mansion-sized additions. But Stewart’s design was ingenious. The size and scale of what he was suggesting was in proportion to the existing property. The design phase took six months but the level of detail was simply astonishing and undoubtedly was the major factor in keeping the construction phase on schedule. Most importantly Stewart listened to us—really listened—and adapted his designs accordingly.

CG&S clearly set themselves the highest standards and will only use crews who demand similarly high professional standards of themselves. Of the many compliments the house has received, one that has cropped up on more than one occasion is “it looks like it has always been there”. Perhaps the highest compliment possible. CG&S achieved everything we had wanted, dreamed of, and more.

You guys are very good at your business and I would recommend you to anyone who is looking for someone to do a great job. I want to thank everyone at CG&S for two things: Our house (we love it), and the process. It not only wasn’t painful, it was, at times, downright fun!

I still remember something you said at our very first meeting. You said that typically, in whole house remodels like ours, people have a tendency to grow the project as it progresses. Things that aren’t offensive in the old house become offensive as everything around them gets fixed. At the time, I thought that wasn’t going to happen to us. I thought I knew what I wanted. Of course, you were right. I really appreciate your having said that at the beginning. It helped me to understand why I hadn’t gotten it right at the beginning. I guess it was sort of a license to change my mind. It was a license that let us build a house we now truly love.

My kitchen is the delight of my life! Everyone who sees it likes it. I’ll even go so far as to say that they love it! I have had several cooking events there with three or four cooks surrounding the island. Everyone is easily accommodated. Everything is accessible. It is a wonderful combination of beauty and functionality. My thanks, especially, to Stewart for his intelligent design and good taste and to all those involved in the construction. I’m totally pleased!

All of your employees have been very professional, polite, very easy to communicate with… Their work has been exceptional. They never waste any time while on the job and they work constantly.
