This Austin Energy five-star rated renovation and second story addition in historic Bryker Woods respects the character of the neighborhood while providing additional space for a family of four. The footprint of the existing house was maintained with first floor renovations that created an open-plan oriented toward outdoor living, including a new shaded deck and swimming pool, at the rear of the lot. High windows above a centrally located stair bring light into the home.  The second floor plan includes the master suite, kids’ rooms and shared bath, and laundry room.

Although the owners were interested in keeping the exterior look of the home true to the original style and era of the neighborhood, the interior of the home reflects their contemporary design sense as seen in the cabinetry styling, finish selections, and lighting design. Every room has its own special identity defined by a wide variety of materials including cabinetry of rift-sawn white oak, bamboo, alder, and walnut, antique yellow pine beams, oak flooring, natural stone, engineered stone counters, a hammered copper counter, and more.
